Meet Blake, a Goldendoodle who has been known as the “bowling dog.”
“As far as I can remember, his highest game was around 93,” recounts the dog’s owner, Katelyn “KT” Simpson. “He scores a series of strikes every now and then, truly an impressive shooter.”
The impressive dog is only 8-month-old, but his favorite place for hanging out is already KT’s Lanes, his owner’s local bowling alley in Idaho. Not only that, but he gets the best training from an experienced coach ever since he was just 12 weeks old – Simpson herself!
Simpson has been bowling ever since she was around three years old. She was even a member of a bowling team at Pikeville University in Kentucky and currently works as an assistant for the school’s woman’s team.
“For us, teaching him how to ball was a great idea. So when he got tall enough to get to the ramp, we set up a ball right there and tried to see what would happen.”
“We gave him a treat at the top of the ball,” narrated Simpson. “We assisted him, rehearsed it a few times, and gently pushed the ball to his arms. After a few rounds, he learned it and started to do it on his own. Blake loves it!”
Currently, Blake is a social media superstar. He has a Facebook page and also rocks on his own Instagram account @blakethebowlingdoodle.
“Everyone I know just adores him! They’re like, ‘Oh my God, you have a bowling pooch!’ So, he is so famous,” says Simpson. “His previous clip on Facebook has reached more than 16,000 views.”
Blake quickly caught on to his bowling training, and now it is Adam’s turn, the family’s newest pup. Maybe when the right time comes, his big brother Blake can show him the ropes.
