Lisa Chiarelli received a call from a concerned citizen about a skittish mama dog and her puppies living in an alley.
Lis immediately researched the location of the dogs and found they were almost two hours away from her house.
She knew that the dogs were in danger because many cars often drive fast even when they are in the alley. She decided to go to the dogs’ location. Lisa shared that she was relieved and glad distance did not get in the way of saving the pups’ lives.
Lis recalled meeting up with the caller, and she was relieved that the woman already took the puppies in her care. However, she could not rescue the skittish mama dog because she ran away as fast as she could.
Lisa spent 30 minutes searching for any puppies left behind and came across the mama dog hiding under a car. She tried to approach the pooch but the poor doggo was just so afraid.
Lis recalled spending an hour trying to convince the mama dog, but she ran away instead. Lis ended up putting the puppies in her car and driving to the vet.
She drove back home to give the puppies flea baths and warm food but she could not stop thinking about the mama dog. She decided to go back the following morning to rescue her.
Lisa successfully rescued the mama dog after her fourth attempt and reunited all the dogs. She decided to foster them until they were old enough to be adopted. Lis could not be any more glad that she did not give up on any of them.
